Perseverance and Overcoming

The other day I was shopping and ran into an old friend. The first ten minutes of our conversation was about all the things that she had been through over the past 14 years. As she shared her story with me, I found myself in aw at all the obstacles she had to deal with over the years. Once she got me caught up on her life, she then asked how I was doing. I was so amazed at her story of perseverance and overcoming that the only thing I could say was, “After hearing your story, I have nothing to complain about…life is great!” We both chuckled, finished our conversation, and I continued my shopping trip. But on the way home, I couldn’t help but think of how blessed I am with all that God has given me. It was a real eye-opener and reminder that no matter what we are going through, it always could be much worse. It reminded me of an example that Orrin Woodward, co-founder of LIFE, shared with me to illustrate this very point. The example he used was as follows: Let’s assume you were to find yourself in a room full of other people and each of you were asked to write your biggest problem in life that you are currently facing on a piece of paper and throw it into a hat. The hat would then be passed around the room for each person to randomly draw a piece of paper with a new problem out of the hat. Once you would see the new problem that you picked, you would be asking for your old problem back.

It doesn’t take very long for us to get wrapped up in our daily living and all the problems that we are facing that we lose site of this fact. Every so often a person comes along that puts everything in perspective. The following video about Nick Vujicic is amazing. Nick is one of those people…enjoy!

Your future awaits, persevere, overcome and go get it!

God bless, Eric Blomdahl

This was a powerful video with some powerful messages. These are two things that our family can relate to as we watched this interview with Nick. Often during struggles we do question “WHY??” especially when the struggles do not end or are not resolved like would we want them to be. Nick said, “If God didn’t give you a miracle, you are a miracle of God for somebody else’s salvation.” What a good and proper perspective to live by!

We have also experienced many people comparing their troubles to ours and vice-versa, just like Nick said people would do when watching his video. He had a great message at the end when he was telling people that there is not hope in comparing his suffering to theirs. I hope everyone gets to the end and sees the belief and conviction that Nick has to share!

    Blessings,
    Lisa

Wow. What a great message about God working through us. There is a reason each of us was made the way we are, and given the set of circumstances that we have. I love that Nick has found his purpose and is using his life to give glory to God. I pray that more people feel as complete and content as he does.

  4. Awesome! Soo many messages in this video and story. “You have a choice you can be angry at God for what you don’t have or you can be thankful for what you do have” We are all fallen by nature sometimes we need a message like this to remember who we are where we have come from and that we are miracles of God. Yet again i am reminded of the quote by Tim and Chris … “Our life is a gift from God what we do with it is our gift to God” Nick is a great example of this!! Eric thanks for sharing this message and hope millions of people get this message 🙂

Thankyou Eric, soo many people do blame God for all thier struggles and obstacles, and its not for us to know, but believe that God has a plan for us all and feel blessed and loved when we face adversity because its there to help us grow and gain wisdom to help others.
