Best Business Ever!

If you're being criticized, chances are you're on the right track!

Leadership guru, Orrin Woodward continues to amaze me with his knowledge and understanding of the principles that are necessary to not only win big in business, but to also win big in life. Prior to being a part of TEAM and LIFE, I thought that my life was separated into different categories: my business life (Monday – Friday from 8am – 5pm), my faith life (Sunday from 9am – 10am), and my family life (which was the time that was left over). In each of my “lives”, I found myself being a different person. There was the “business” Eric; then there was the “family” Eric; and finally, the “spiritual” Eric. What I’ve learned from Orrin Woodward, is that we live only one life and that our character, integrity and conduct should be the same no matter where we are (work, home, or at church). What Orrin Woodward and the other co-founders of LIFE have done is to provide each of us with a vehicle that helps improve all areas of our lives. A life well-lived is one that maximizes our God-given talents and abilities to fulfill a specific purpose. I was recently at a leadership meeting where Oliver DeMille said, “The purpose in life is to find your purpose in life.” There is no better vehicle to help each of us do that than LIFE. Make sure you check out Orrin’s blog post. Here is a brief excerpt:

“The LIFE founders have resolved to learn from our previous networking experiences, vowing to creatively destroy any parts that we did not believe satisfied or exceeded the customers’ expectations. We plan on doing this through applying free enterprise principles in the marketplace, not feeling the need to resort to reputation assassinations of our former associates. Perhaps both sides would benefit from applying this highroad principle. Certainly, the consumers would benefit by enjoying the freedom to study the pros and cons of each potential business models on its merits.

A person only has so much mental energy. The question is: what is he investing it in – dreams or dramas? The more he fills his head with dramas, the less room he has for dreams. In truth, I have never met a dream achiever who invested much time in drama loving. Conversely, I have never met a drama lover, who invested much time in dream achieving. This is why I have invested my life in dream achievement and quickly identify and disassociate myself from the drama lovers of life. Victors love dreaming for it keeps their mind free from dramas. Victims, on the other hand, love dramatizing for it keeps their mind free from dreams. Whichever group you choose to associate with determines your future destiny.

If anyone reading this has a dream and desires to achieve it by helping LIFE TEAM apply the free enterprise creative destruction principles to the networking profession, then I welcome you. If anyone reading this wants to join the online agenda-laden purveyors of dramas, then I support your right to do so. I only request that you ponder this: why is it that one side uses its freedoms to create a new business model, which benefits the consumer; while the other side uses its freedoms in an attempt to destroy the new model, which hurts the consumer? When a person realizes the economic consequences of Creative Destruction upon the older business models, the fog is lifted and the truth is revealed. Ponder wisely.”

I have experienced over my 11-year relationship with Orrin Woodward that his motives are always focused on serving and helping others win in life by sharing truth; while the critic’s motives are always self-serving and focused on stopping others from winning in life by sharing lies. So I definitely agree with Orrin, before you choose to take the advice of a critic…ponder wisely…the quality of your future depends on it.

Your future awaits…go get it!

Have a great day and God bless, Eric Blomdahl

Great entry, Eric! This time of year I think we have even more opportunity to apply these principles. With family gatherings for Thanksgiving and Christmas (specific intent to not say ‘Holidays’ :>), we can easily spend our mental energy getting caught up in family drama over things that really don’t matter.
Ditto on Don and Jan’s comments…you are the perfect example of a life changed for the better.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and agree that your energies into people lives to accept approve and appreciate them is more beneficial to a persons life rather than complain criticize and condemn them!!

I love Hearing truth Eric! I also choose dreamers…Dramas are meant to be a movie…that we choose to watch. I used to play a good victim role:) thankyou for your wisdom. God Bless

Eric, what a great information. We loved how you laid out the difference between Critic – negative dream stealer and wanting a Life – purpose driven by dreams. Loved how Pat & Mary relayed it to the upcoming Holidays, thank you for giving such a wonderful example. Now when we are sitting with some of our Critics’ I can just place the mental picture of then hunched over trying to run around the room and steal everyone’s dreams VS. our role of building people up and showing them how it is so possible to dream once again!

Our family continues to be so blessed that you and other LIFE TEAM leaders have come into our lives and that we did not let critics influence our future!

  8. Great post! Love the point that we need to be the same person in all areas of our life…the best we can be, the same character/integrity in all that we do.
